Project Description:
The Mayo Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) will be converted into a Regional Pump Station which will be used to transfer all Mayo peninsula wastewater to the Annapolis WRF for Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) treatment and disposal. A Septic Tank Effluent Pumping (STEP) collection system currently conveys septic tank effluent from residents and businesses on the Mayo peninsula to the Mayo WRF. Also, the Glebe Heights Communal Facility (adjacent to the Mayo WRF), where septic tank effluent from the Glebe Heights sub-basin is injected into subsurface drainage fields for treatment by the soil, will be closed after the Glebe Heights flows are rerouted to the Mayo WRF. The existing Glebe Heights I Pumping Station will be upgraded, and a force main will be constructed from it to the Mayo WRF. After wastewater treatment has been discontinued on the Mayo peninsula, unused components of the existing Mayo WRF, the effluent force main and the outfall will be decommissioned, as will be the Glebe Heights treatment facility.
