On June 21, 2017, Clark Construction Group, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, held its Strategic Partnership Program (SPP) commencement ceremony for twenty-four hard working minority, women, and service disabled veteran-owned business enterprises. The SPP, founded by Clark in 2006, strives to empower said businesses with expanding its knowledge and potential in areas such as management, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, critical path, marketing, and sureties, to name a few. The courses prepare the students for the real world challenges of construction projects and segments the class into small groups of 4-5. Each group prepares a full proposal, complete with budgets and schedules, and presents the final proposal in an oral presentation, with an ultimate winning group selected in the end.

MWMCA President, Wayne R. Frazier, Sr., attended this year’s commencement ceremony and remarked, “Since 2006, Clark Construction Group, which conducts the SPP in Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Baltimore, and Northern and Southern California, has graduated 554 “students” represented companies over the eleven-year period. The program illustrates the daily rigor and pitfalls of the construction industry. Students leave with greater knowledge and a better understanding and appreciation for the construction industry. Bravo to Clark for giving back and preparing for our future contractors NOW.”
