Havtech's Contribution to Carver VoTech's Students Advancement

Havtech
Students from Carver Vocational Technical High School

On February 23, 2015, Havtech’s President Norman Long greeted students from Carver Vocational Technical High School (Carver), a Baltimore City Public School, to learn firsthand about construction and HVAC.  “It was our pleasure to host the outstanding young adults from Carver Vocational High School.  There were great role models from wonderful local companies and organizations who donated their time and who provided excellent insight into the various careers available to these students.  These students are the future of our country and society, and it is important that we help educate and guide them on promising careers in the construction industry”, said Norman Long.

The day long visit by the students started with the design process of construction with speakers from Grimm & Parker Architects and Global Engineering Solutions.  The representatives from The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and Aegis Mechanical (an MBE firm) discussed critical path procedures.  The final speakers came in from Plumbers & Steamfitters VA Local #486 RSC Company discussed careers.  Closing out the day the students were provided with Havtech demonstrations and a tour of the massive facility.

Wayne R. Frazier, Sr., President of Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA) was also invited to speak.  He spoke to the students about the importance of attaining a vocational and technical education.  “America needs for our youth to do extremely well, because our American trade work force is aging quickly. There is no substitute for a quality American Vocational & Technical education and one should be proud to become a mechanic.”

In closing, much love goes out to Havtech’s leadership for believing in tomorrow’s youth and giving back in particular to Baltimore City’s youth who need this type of career direction. You go Havtech!
