Kiewit-Shea Tunnel Constructors (KSTC) is providing Construction Manager/General Contractor services for the delivery of Amtrak’s Frederick Douglass Tunnel Project (Package A). The Frederick Douglass Tunnel Project (Package A) is the centerpiece of Amtrak’s Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program, a comprehensive plan that will modernize a 10-mile section of the Northeast Corridor in Baltimore, MD. The new 4-mile Frederick Douglass Tunnel will replace the B&P Tunnel that dates back to the Civil War era.
Package A primarily consists of the construction of the new tunnel. Other major scope elements include the construction of below-grade components such as bored tunnels, mined caverns, cross-passages, and other substructures, as well as the excavation of the running tunnels and ventilation facilities in several locations.
