Colleen Vacelet, President of Intreegue Design, was recently selected by Baltimore Business Journal as a Top 40 Under 40 Honoree for the 2019 class. The Top 40 are chosen from nearly 500 nominees, from all over Greater Baltimore and in pretty much every industry out there, from law and finance to tech and real estate and everything in between.

Colleen's company, Intreegue Design, is a WBE Landscape Architecture firm celebrating its 6th year. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at UMD, a board member for Cylburn Arboretum, a mentor, a licensed landscape architect, a certified Arborist, a past president of MDASLA, a chicken farmer, a beekeeper, a wife, and a mom of two little ones. Though small, the firm is making BIG impact with projects on 3 different continents (Africa, Europe, North America)! Local impact projects include 2 buildings for Port Covington, Smithson Street Park, and Community Space as part of Seawall Development’s Storefront Challenge. Beyond her business, she is active in the Maryland community through mentorship. Colleen mentors on the national and local level with professionals, college students, and high school students. She serves as a National Mentor with CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) for their leadership development program. As an adjunct professor at University of Maryland (her alma mater), she mentors her students. Locally, Colleen serves as a mentor for the Urban Alliance and provides guided internships for these high school students. Recently, she was asked to be a part of a working group at the Bloomberg School of Public Health regarding the matter of disconnected youth and how small business owners can provide a healthy, safe, and motivated working atmosphere. More than anything, she cares about her children and the world they will grow up in. She does her part to be an environmental steward through design and “walking the talk”.

The Baltimore Business Journal will host an event to induct the honorees at Guinness Open Gate Brewery on Tuesday, Nov. 12. They will also publish profiles of all honorees in the Nov. 15 print edition and online.
