Learn About MDTAs Upcoming Procurement Opportunities
Meshelle M.V. Howard, MCA Director, Division of Civil Rights and Fair Practices Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA)

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is a revenue producing arm of Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). It constructs new toll roads, bridges and tunnels and maintains them for safe and easy access. MDTA is one of only four arms of Maryland’s government that can authorize the creation and sale of debentures to fund such revenue creation projects.

Since the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic has seized upon us, the in-person business outreaches that MDTA, as well as other state agencies, usually conducts are no longer available. Therefore, with an urgent desire to educate and inform minority and women owned businesses, MDTA’s Meshelle Howard, Director, Division of Civil Rights and Fair Practices, wanted to keep the public informed about MDTA’s forecasted projects throughout 2020. “During this pandemic, it is still important to MDTA to ensure small, minority and women-owned businesses are aware of the opportunities with our agency. It is important that you are aware of these opportunities because your participation helps us to achieve Maryland’s MBE, SBR, and VSBE goals. Normally, we would be having our outreach series, “Getting Your Foot in the Door,” where many of you attend in-person to network and receive these opportunities in hand, along with educational presentations to help with business development. Please know we are working on virtual ways to bring you the quality presentations that you are used to from the MDTA,” said Ms. Howard.

“Getting Your Foot in the Door” has been in existence for 11 years now and is usually held on the third Saturday of March, June, and September. Since COVID-19 interrupted our lives, Meshelle Howard still wants our MBE/WBE’s to know about projects coming out in 2020 to get prepared. We appreciate Ms. Howard for keeping MBE/WBE’s in mind during these unprecedented times. Upon reviewing the forecast list, please contact the corresponding purchasing officer to find out more details about specific work opportunities,” said Wayne R. Frazier, Sr, MWMCA president.
