MBE/DBE Certification with The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Your Direct Route to State & Federal Contract Participation
The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), Office of Minority Business Enterprise has two primary functions:
1. The Certification of Minority Business Enterprises (MBE)/Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) for the State of Maryland.
2. The administration and coordination of the MBE and DBE programs within the MDOT administrations.
Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification makes the entity eligible on state funded contracts, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification makes the entity eligible on U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) funded contracts.
To ensure that only bona fide MBEs/DBEs participate in these Programs, Maryland has a comprehensive certification program. In order to qualify, an entity must meet program requirements involving ownership, minority status, control, personal net worth, and small business size.
After completing your minority certification consultation with Maryland Washington Minority Contractors’ Association, Inc and a determination is made as to your eligibility, we can assemble the required documentation. With our assistance, you can be assured that your certification package will be complete and thorough and that your review and approval will not be delayed due to missing documentation.
Once your business is certified, it will be designated as an MBE and/or DBE and will have its name appear in MDOT’s online MBE Internet Directory, a reference document made available to all State departments/agencies, the contracting community and the general public.
