The project consists of the construction of a replacement City Springs Elementary/Middle School facility. The new building is to be constructed across the street from the existing school, at a site that has been previously cleared. The existing school is to be fully demolished by the contractor after the new facility is completed and occupied. The existing building to be demolished is 80,310-sf and is located at 100 S. Caroline Street, Baltimore, MD 21231.
The replacement building is 128,310 sf and will utilize ICF for exterior and shear walls. The building is designed to achieve net-zero energy usage, utilizing ground source heat pump system. The roof will be equipped with photovoltaic array to offset energy usage. A geothermal well field is located underneath playfields. The entire site is to be redeveloped with new storm water treatment facilities, playgrounds, outdoor learning spaces, landscaping, parking lot and artificial turf playfield.
This project is planning to achieve net-zero, LEED Gold certification.
