FirstEnergy/Potomac Edison New Supplier Diversity Leader

FirstEnergy/Potomac Edison New Supplier Diversity Leader
Torey Stewart Tolson, Supplier Diversity Coordinator FirstEnergy Corp.

After 33 years of service, FirstEnergy’s Supplier Diversity Coordinator Toby Stanislaw retired. Mrs. Torey Stewart Tolson has been named the new Supplier Diversity Coordinator. She has been with the company 17 years in capacities of budgeting, ethics and compliance training. Mrs. Tolson is committed to increasing contract opportunities for minority, women, service disabled-veterans and small disabled business enterprises when supporting agents in meeting their sourcing requirements.

Torey will be actively engaged in outreach events, supplier diversity conferences, and membership in organizations throughout FirstEnergy’s service territory that support the mission of supplier diversity. At FirstEnergy, supplier diversity aligns with the company’s corporate values, enhances community development, and provides effective representation of governmental and regulatory constituencies’ interests.

“Mrs. Tolson hit the ground in mid late January 2016 and immediately began the search for diverse suppliers who can perform underground and overhead distribution services”, said Wayne Frazier, President of Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA). She is also seeking the following services:

  • office equipment, distribution hardware, transformers, line construction, vegetation management, wire & cable, coal handling, motors, pumps, fleet services, underground construction, fiber-optic construction, and facilities work: HVAC, janitorial, snow removal, and landscape.

The utility giant was an original signor of Maryland Public Service Commission’s, Conference-16 Memorandum of Understanding (PC-16 MOU) back in 2009 which called for the energy industry in Maryland to embrace supplier diversity spend. Since then the utility has grown its spend with such companies and are looking for more new diverse suppliers.

If you have any questions about the Supplier Diversity Program at FirstEnergy, contact their representative at supplierdiversity@firstenergycorp.com.

Potential suppliers are asked to complete a Supplier Registration Profile Form. The form and registration instructions are located on our Supply Chain website at www.firstenergycorp.com/supplierregistration.

We here at MWMCA wish Mrs. Tolson success in her new role and compliment FirstEnergy/Potomac Edison for making supplier diversity a corporate priority.
