Simmons is a Leader in Dominion’s Supply Chain
In today’s issue, we are highlighting one of the best corporate advocates for social and economic supplier diversity inclusion. This unique individual is employed by Dominion Energy, Inc. (Dominion). Dominion is an American power company and energy concern headquartered in Richmond, Virginia that supplies electricity in various areas in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina and supplies natural gas to some parts of West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. In addition, Dominion has generation facilities in Indiana, Illinois, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Dominion’s corporate roots reach back to the colonial era in 1787. Mergers and acquisitions over past centuries have brought them to their present day corporate structure.
Needless to say, back in the late 1700s, 1800s, and about 60% of the 1900s, Dominion like all of corporate America, was not as diversely inclusive within their employment ranks and third-party tier 1 and 2 diverse supplier vendors. However, all that has changed and the person we salute today is none other than S. Dallas Simmons, an African American Supply Chain Consultant in the SCM Procurement and Center of Excellence. Dallas joined Dominion Energy in 2001 as a Manager in their Accounting Department. He became Manager of Accounting Services in 2003, Project Manager of Six Sigma in 2006 and Manager of Shareholder Services in 2009. He assumed his current post in 2016.
Dallas received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and is a Certified Public Accountant.
“Dallas Simmons is perfect for the role of Supply Chain Consultant. He is a dollars and cents guy having been employed by Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA as their Comptroller and as an Accountant for Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC. He understands what it takes for diverse suppliers to succeed in a highly regulated industry such as power and energy. Dominion is very fortunate to have Dallas and Dallas is fortunate to be part of Dominion’s growing positive culture of diversity inclusion,” said Wayne R. Frazier, Sr., President of Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA). “God bless him and Dominion as they continue to lead in diversity inclusion.”
