Check Out the New Opportunities in Overhead Transmission for the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project
As the regional transmission organization responsible for maintaining reliable electricity service for 13 states and the District of Columbia. Pennsylvania, New Jersey & Maryland (PJM) determined that new transmission lines are needed in Maryland and the surrounding region to prevent extensive overloads on the electrical system. These overloads would occur due to the increasing demand for power driven primarily by data center growth along with the retirement of existing generators in Maryland. If left unaddressed, these developing conditions could compromise overall electric reliability for Marylanders and could lead to widespread service interruptions, brownouts and even blackouts.
