Established in 1918, WSSC Water is currently among the largest water and wastewater utilities in America, with a network of nearly 5, 816 miles of freshwater pipeline and over 5,606 miles of sewer pipeline. WSSC’s service area spans nearly 1,000 square miles in Prince George’s County and Montgomery counties and serves 1.8 million residents through approximately 475,000 customer accounts. Their drinking water has always met or exceeded federal standards.

WSSC Water is a corporation of values in accountability, collaboration, excellence, environmental stewardship, and innovation. Another proudly held value is their Supplier Diversity and Inclusion Program recognized as one of the best in the DMV. WSSC has several programs that cater to the growth of area local certified firms in various trades. Directed by Courtney Edmonds, the Office of Supplier Diversity and Inclusion evaluates all procurement to ensure that certified MBE and WBE’s get a fair chance in competing for opportunities. One such firm is K&K Adams, a site and demolition MBE contractor who attended workshops and seminars arranged by Ms. Edmonds and learned of a major opportunity and submitted a bid proposal. Keith Adams, CEO of K&K Adams said “As a minority site work and demolition contractor, I recently completed work on WSSC Water’s $262 million Piscataway Bio-Energy project in Accokeek, Prince George’s County. The workshops and seminars offered by Ms. Edmonds and WSSC’s Office of Supplier Diversity and Inclusion prepared me to compete for this major demolition project. Ms. Edmonds has real compassion for small businesses to succeed.”

“Courtney Edmonds is a leading subject matter expert in supplier diversity specifically contract compliance, strategic sourcing, and business development.
