The Minority and Women’s Business Opportunity Office (MWBOO) in Baltimore Has Its Own MBE/WBE Certification Program!
The City of Baltimore promotes equal business opportunity in the city's contracting process by encouraging full and equitable participation by minority and women-owned business enterprises in the provision of goods and services to the City on a contractual basis. MWBOO administers the application process by which a business is determined to be a bona fide Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Women's Business Enterprise (WBE). To apply, the firm must be:
- An independently owned and operated business
- In operation for 12 months
- Minority or women-owned for at least 12 months
- Have an operating office in the Baltimore City Market Area. This includes the following geographic regions of Maryland: Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Carroll County, Queen Anne’s County, and Harford County.
