David Cordish hands out $100 bills to Maryland Live Casino customers
The Cordish Cos. president handed out nearly $4,000 in cash to customers at the Arundel Mills venue. The promotion comes as the region's casino wars continue to heat up. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, for example, opened 15 minutes down the road from Maryland Live last August.
"The Cordish family owns Maryland Live Casino and that puts us in a position where we can have some fun. We can do something that the big corporate owners of casinos can't do," Cordish says at the start of a video showcasing the promotion. "We can give away free money when we want."
Flanked by two show girls in sequins and feathered headdresses, Cordish walked from table to table and between roles of slot machines giving out $100 bills to random customers.
"A hundred for you, a hundred for you, a hundred for you," he says as he hands out cash — and an occasional hug — thanking customers for coming out to the casino and encouraging them to come back.
Carmen Gonzales, a spokeswoman for Maryland Live, said it's part of a new series of spontaneous acts of kindness and surprises the casino will be putting on.
