Project Description:
Work consists of upgrading three (3) wastewater pumping stations serving the communities of Ewell (80 gpm), Rhodes Point (80 gpm) and Tylerton (55 gpm) on Smith Island. Work consists of raising the 5-foot diameter wet well with concrete riser rings and installation of elevated decking about +/- 5 feet above existing grade to comply with coastal resiliency design. Work consists of demolition of existing duplex submersible pumps, piping and controls with above grade self-priming pump packages with piping and controls. Work includes bypass pumping, mechanical, electrical, SCADA and all appurtenances shown on the drawings and included in the specification within a lump sum bid.
A pre-bid meeting will be held at the pumping station sites on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 departing by boat from the Crisfield, MD Dock at 9:00 a.m., (EST) to allow Contractors an opportunity to obtain information on the project from the Engineer and the Owner. Transportation to the sites will be provided by the Owner.
Written questions (email: mhall@gmbnet.com) will be accepted and answered via Addenda if submitted to the Engineer by 2:00 p.m. local time on June 2, 2021. Questions shall include the project name (Re: Pump Station Upgrades – SICWP) in subject heading.
Copies of the Contract Documents may be purchased at the office of George, Miles & Buhr, LLC, 206 West Main Street, Salisbury, Maryland 21801, upon payment of Forty Dollars ($40.00) for each flash drive, non-refundable. Hard copies may be purchased for Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). Checks shall be made payable to George, Miles & Buhr, LLC.

Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond payable to the Owner for five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. No bidder may withdraw his bid within one-hundred (100) days after the actual date of the opening thereof.
Sealed bids will be received by Somerset County Sanitary District, Inc. (herein called the "OWNER") at Princess Anne Wastewater Treatment Plant 30353 Linden Avenue, Princess Anne, Maryland 21853, until 2:00 p.m., (EST) on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Said bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud.

Somerset County Sanitary District, Inc. reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and/or waive informalities or irregularities, and/or to accept or reject any items of any bid, as it may deem best for its interest. The bids will be evaluated, and award will be made to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wage Rates and Regulations WILL apply to this project. The requirements of RUS Bulletin 1780-35 regarding Implementation of American Iron and Steel (AIS) WILL apply to this project.
If Bidder intends to let any subcontracts for a portion of the work, Bidder shall take affirmative steps to assure that small, minority and women’s businesses are used when possible as sources of supplies, equipment, construction, and services.
