Project Description:
This project consists of 52,580 SF of renovations covering 4 stories (basement/ 3 floors/ attic) within a structure originally built in 1942 and renovated in the 1960s. Project is to include a full interior gut and renovation to create state of the art laboratory facilities as part of the USDA’s Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. Exterior work to include improvements to the masonry façade, new windows, and a full replacement of the existing slate roof. The building’s exterior is historic, constructed between 1938 and 1942, and will include historic preservation coordination. The existing building contains hazardous materials that will require remediation prior to construction. The project will need to be compliant with LEED Silver standards. Whiting-Turner is pursuing SB, SDB, WOSB, HUBZone, VOSB, SDVOSB, and HBCU/MI participation for this project.
