Gilbane was recently selected to serve as Construction Manager at Risk for the construction of a new, on-campus student housing and dining complex for Morgan State University. The Client is Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO), HDC is their Owner’s Rep and Morgan State is the User. The Project will be constructed on a vacant campus lot between an existing parking garage and the Thurgood Marshall Apartments, the current garden-style student housing complex. The new Project is planned to be a 10-story Tower with a Traditional Dining Hall, Retail and Student Support Services on the ground floor. The nine Residential Stories will be a variety of Single Room and Suite Configurations totaling approximately 670 beds. The Project will also involve extensive site utilities, landscaping and when completed, the demolition of Thurgood Marshall Apartments.
